Fanm/Women

8 06 2011

ba yo tout non pote

di se kochon yo ye

depi yo grate vant yo kouche

yo bliye si fanm se wozo

se pliye yo pliye, men yo pap kase

se aliminyòm yo ye

yo pap mal pou repare, menm si yo kolboso

tout fanm jwe yon wòl nan sosyete

malerèz kou gran fanm

machann kafe kou segrete

nou tout gen menm signifikasyon

Ki se

F: flanbo pou tout yon nasyon

A: Angrè pou tout gason

N: noyo tout fanmi

M: mouchwa pou siye dlo nan je la mizè

— Claudine ST . FLEUR

************************************

they call them all kinds of names

they say they’re nothing but pigs

who lie down as soon as they scratch their bellies

they forget that women are reeds

that just bend and bend, but never break

they are aluminum

never too damaged to be repaired, no matter how dented

all women play a role in society

the poor and the esteemed,

the woman pounding coffee and the secretary

we all mean the same thing

which is

F: flanbo (bonfire) of the nation

A: angrè (fertile ground) for all men

N: noyo (seed) of the whole family

M: mouchwa (handkerchief) to wipe the tears from the eyes of misery
