Fanm/Woman

12 05 2011

Li san nanm
L’ap mande
Ban m fanm, ban m fanm!

Gen moun k’ap kritike Djo
Mesye yo ta renmen gen yon fanm nan chak katye kote yo pase
Mwen pap jije yo
Paske se yon fanm konsa yo jwenn andan

Medanm se pa yon rezon tou non
Pou n ap mache debadeblo
Ni tou anvanyen n’ sou do
Fòk nou respekte non nou
Pou nou pa pèdi onè n.

Woman, you are one of the most beautiful things that exists
There are men who know our worth
There are men who don’t

When we are there, nature flourishes
Wherever we pass, there is life
When we’re not there, Joe’s not strong
He can’t eat
He has no soul
He pleads:
Give me women, give me women!

There are people who criticize Joe
Because they don’t know the pleasure he gets from women
So precious are we!
Men would like to have a woman in every neighborhood they pass through
I won’t judge them
For it’s a woman like this they find there.

But women, this is no reason
For us to strut about without a care in the world
Nor to lie back and spread our legs every moment
We must respect our name
So we don’t lose our honor.

Pa jije an analize/Don’t judge, let’s analyze

20 04 2011

Kisa nou ye

Ki fè lom parey nou fè yon aksyon?

Nou toujou prè pou n fè l siki yon kondanasyon

San nou poze tèt nou kesyon

Mande n si m te nan te l sitiyasyon l

Ki reyaksyon n

Lè n gade Magalie

Tout moun ap pale 2 li

Paske li pran lavi l

Li fè l tounen yon bwat plezi

Nan simaye

Yon ponyen nan men preske chak sitwayen ayisyen

Pou li trase chimen l

An chanje mantalite n

An viv nan reyalite

An chache rezon nan yon move aksyon

Pou n ka jwenn yon solisyon.

What have we come to

Taking action against our fellow human beings?

We are always ready to condemn

Without first asking ourselves

Asking if we were in his place

How we would react…

Let’s take Magalie

Everyone gossips about her

Because she took control of her own life

And turned herself into a thing of delight

Spread herself around

A handful for nearly every Haitian

So — she forged her own path,

Dancing and swivelling her hips.

Are we to compare her to

Or throw in the same category with so-and-so’s daughter, Crystal?

She’s a student of life, and a professional

And her diploma is her voice.

My friends, now is the hour, it is time

To stop judging

Let’s change our mentality

Let’s live in reality

Let’s look for the reason for every bad action

So we can find a solution.

Fanm/Women

12 03 2011
Nou se manman yon peyi
Atout se fanm ki bay lavi
Yo ban n’ tout non pote
Tankou atagaz, m’ fèl deja, FKD
Men yo bliye si se nan kot yo nou soti
E n’ap toujou rete poto mitan yon fanmi
Lave se nou, pase se nou
Nan kizin nou bon
Sou kabann nou pi bon
Lè rete yo rele’n choukoun
Pou yo ka jwenn ti bouboun
Tout pasyon yo se fanm
y’ap fout fou pou fant janm
Epi se fanm yo pi maltrete
Yo gade’n pi mal ke salte
Fanmn, malgre y’ap fèn pase tray
Nou pap janm dekouraje
N’ap kontinye batay
pou dwa nou respekte

We are the mother of the country

It is women who give life to all.

Yet they call us all kinds of names,

Like atagaz, “I’ve already had her,” and “hit-and-run.”

But they forget that we were made of their ribs

And that we remain the cornerstone of the family.

Washing – that’s us.  Ironing – that’s us.

We’re good in the kitchen

We’re even better in bed.

Men call us “honey,”

Just to get in our honey-pot.

We’re the object of all their passion,

They go crazy to get between our legs

Yet it is women who are the most mistreated

They treat us like we’re less than dirt

We women, though they put us through hell

Will never be discouraged

We will continue to fight

For our rights to be respected.

Di m’ sa w’ te santi 14 fevriye 2011/Tell me what you felt on February 14, 2011

26 02 2011

M’ te santi frison lè w t’ap touche m

M pat wè lè w te bo m

M pat tande lè w t’ap souse m

M te wè zetwal file lè w te karese m

Tout venn tiyo m te pran ponpe

Ki te fè m anvi voye, voye jete

Mezi dlo nan kò m ki t’ap koule

Wouf! Cheri, mon amou, ou te fè m sikre

Tankou yon pòm nan kabare sen valanten

Ki t’ap fè m soufri, plenyen.

Cheri manyen m miyonnen m

Paske se sèl ou menm

Ki fè m bebe lala

Lè w di m je tèm ochokola

Ki te fè m di, ay, wouch, olala

Gade manje m la.

Toutouni/Naked

10 02 2011

Lè manman m t’ap fè m’

Mwen te sòti toutouni

Lè Bondye tap kreye lèzòm

Li te fè yo toutouni.

Mwen menm mwen santi m’ pi byen

Lè m’ toutouni

Nan pase nan tout riyèl ak tout ti koub

Ki nan kò m’ san bri.

Menaj mwen pi renmen wè m’ lè m toutouni

Lè m’ konsa mwen bal’ plis plezi

Depi l`wè m’ toutouni

Bouch li souri devan l’ souri.

Yon fanm tankou m’ lè m kanpe toutouni

Ou paka pa krezi.

When my mother gave birth to me

I came out naked.

When God created Man

He made him naked.

I feel my best

When I am naked

All the little paths and curves

Of my body, without noise.
My boyfriend loves to see me when I’m naked

That’s what gives him the most pleasure.

Whenever he sees me naked

His mouth smiles to see my “smile.”

When a woman like me stands before you naked,

You can’t help but lose your mind.

Twòp poum pale/Too much for me to say

23 01 2011

Mezanmi, kitem rakontew.

Aprè 12 janvye fin pase

Tout moun te konprann ke ayisyen ta pral chanje

jan yap depafini.

Yo lage nan lari san zanmi

San fanmi

E menm san zabri.

Kanta lidè yo menm

Y’ap goumen pou pouvwa.

Pa gen youn nou te ka gen yon ti lafwa.

Tout gen menm objektif

Plen pòch yo pou y’ale.

Suttttt, pa dim sutttt, m pap pe fòm pale

Gason renmen pale fanm mal twòp

Men genlè bliye si se nou

Menm ki manman yo

Sè yo

Marenn yo

Matant yo

Madanm yo

Yo pale pi rèd pase moun kap preche retou kris

Jis pou yo jwenn yon ti alsiyis

Lè yo fini se gadew gade, ou wè do yo ki prale

Ou ta rele

Men w oblije pe paskew pa vle simaye

Mesye

Nou jwenn taktik la

Kanta FFD pap gen sa a.

*************************************************************************

Too much for me to say

My friends, let me tell you.

After January 12,

Everyone thought we Haitians were going to change.

That peace could not be denied.

But the way I see things, it’s further degenerated

Everybody’s just looking out for himself.

They always say “The youth is a country’s future.”

It seems that’s not so for Haiti.

Because no authority has ever come to see

How our young people are falling apart.

They are loose in the streets, friendless,

Without family,

Even homeless.

While the country’s leaders

Just fight for power

There’s not a single one to have faith in.

They’ve all got the same goal:

To fill their pockets and get away.

“Shhhh.”  Don’t tell me “shhhhh!”  I won’t be silent; I must speak.

Men like to speak ill of women

But it seems they’ve forgotten

That it is us who are their mothers

Their sisters

Their godmothers

Their aunts

Their wives.

But that doesn’t stop them from talking about us or mistreating us.

When they need a woman,

They’ll say anything.

They’ll call you “Mi amor.”

They’ll talk with all the force of someone preaching Christ’s return

Just to make you hiss and moan.

But when they’ve finished, just you wait and watch

You’ll see them turn their backs and run away.

You would call after them,

But you have to stay silent because you don’t want to use yourself up.

Boys

We’re onto your tricks.

As for “FFD,” you can forget about it.
